No late nominations will be accepted.

A number of bouts will be matched for Challenge Champion Belts - these bouts can encompass any division, age group and even experience category - the important element will be that they be competitive bouts that spark interest and future challenges in that weight division. 

It is competitions like this one that we are sure will unearth the talent and potential we have in Queensland. We hope you are as excited as we are about the format of this competition.

Should any boxers remain unchallenged for a Challenge Belt Bout they cannot retain the belt and Boxing Queensland will determine another suitable match from those who have nominated for the tournment to box for the Challenge Belt. 

Boxer Eligibility:  Challenge Belts - fully registered Boxing Queensland Boxers Only

Boxer Eligibility:  Challenge Bouts (no belt) - Open to all registered boxers including interstate boxers

Gloves: 10 & 12oz will be utilised as per the updated BA rules and regs

Headguards: AIBA approved and licensed, please check with us if unsure

Wraps: AIBA approved  bandages

Mouthguards: No boxer will be permitted a red or partially red coloured mouthguard

Drink in the Field of Play: Only plain water in a clear bottle is permitted

COVID Restrictions: Please follow all restrictions in place at the time of the tournament, this includes Boxing Qld direction and venue requirements

Coaches: 

  • Each boxer is entitled to one coach and two assistant coaches in their corner. Coaches must be registered and must have a blue card
  • Only one coach may enter the ring during the break period between rounds of the bout
  • The coach or assistant coaches shall not enter the ring before the start or at the conclusion of the bout, however two may mount the apron of the ring before the bout commences
  • A coach is not permitted to clap or shout but should instead coach from the corner, the coach must remember to coach the boxer and not the referee
  • The coach is not to lean on or encroach upon the ring and should never slap the ring
  • The coach cannot bring a communication device such as a phone or walkie talkie to the ring and should not bring a camera to the ring 
  • Coaches, no hats to be worn while cornering.

All accreditated and affiliated/registered persons are covered under the BAL Insurance Policy.

Once the nominations close, all nominations excepting those for Challenge Bouts will be posted to the trainers facebook page where the information will be visible for everyone to see and the coaches will complete the match up process from there. If you see a possible match up for your boxer you are to tag the opponents coach and the match maker in the comments, once the opposition coach confirms the match up, the match maker will confirm the match up & lock it in. All match ups outside of the standard criteria will need to be approved by the state R&J coordinator.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION -
    • do not nominate for the event if you are not registered and your club is not yet affiliated with Boxing Qld
    • Club coaches should be nominating all boxers for each and every event
    • All correspondance from BQ regarding match ups and requirements will be directed through the club head coach.
    • If you participate in a non sanctioned event prior to this tournament your nomination will be withdrawn and your registration suspended
  • Temporary membership -
    • If you are nominating under the temp membership category, your membership will expire the day after the tournament
    • All boxers must have a current (within 12 months) medical & serology Report (Hep B&C/HIV) to compete. This information must be downloaded to your online BQ profile.
    • All Boxers must have a boxing Qld blue record book.
    • Please register under an affiliated BQ club for all temporary memberships.
    • Please note that your coach must hold a current blue card and a BA level 1 coaches ticket to be able to assist in the corner.
