Boxing Australia - Information regarding Olympic Qualification Event

While we still do not have exact dates for the Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualification Event, the latest indication is that it will be held in mid-January. Until we have exact dates, we are still looking to hold the Selection Event in early December, but please note that this may change should the Qualification Event dates differ to this.

The BAL Board proposes to continue with its proposed scheduling of the Olympic Preselection tournament to be held in the first half of December and intends that it will determine and announce the location and exact dates of this tournament at the end of July

• The Australian Elite Men’s and Women’s Team will be entered into the Olympic Qualification Tournament by the Australian Olympic Committee
• Discussion has commenced between the Board and the Australian Olympic Committee regarding the Selection Criteria for the Australian Team to the 2020 Olympic Games
• The Australian Olympic Committee has advised it will seek from the International Olympic Committee the exact dates of the Asia/Oceania Olympic Games Qualification Event
• In the event the International Olympic Committee advises that the Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament is to be held in early January or earlier the Board will reconsider the dates the Australian Team’s Preselection Tournament is to be held.
