Important Anti-Doping Message from AIBA
Published Fri 11 Mar 2016
Boxing Australia has received an important message from AIBA Executive Director Karim Bouzidi in regards to Anti-Doping. It is important for all boxers, coaches, team managers, parents and all other stakeholders in boxing to read his message:
'In light of recent high profile cases in the larger sports community, I would like to remind your National Federation of the importance of Anti-Doping and aware of newly prohibited substances by WADA that went into effect as of January 2016. In the attached documentation you will find WADA’s Prohibited List of substances as well as the recently banned substances with brief explanations.
Seeing as the Olympic Qualifiers are in course, please make sure that this information is properly distributed and circulated within your National Federation, specifically to coaches and boxers in order to respect the list of Prohibited Substances and be up to date with new WADA regulations.
I am confident that you are committed to having boxing be doping free boxing, which essential for the credibility of our sport and the wellbeing of our athletes.'
Athletes are advised to go on the ASADA website and click on the ‘Check Your Substances’ tab on the right hand side of the homepage to check any medications they may be taking. https://www.asada.gov.au/
Athletes are advised that supplements can be particularly risky, especially anything purchased over the internet.
The ASADA website does not provide athletes a judgement on supplements as they can’t guarantee their safety.
