Unsanctioned Tournaments
Towards the end of 2018 some incorrect information was circulating regarding boxing on unsanctioned tournaments and on league and ABC shows.
No boxer, coach or official can participate in any unsanctioned tournament, this includes League, ABC (Global), White Collar, Corporate and sparring events that charge an admission.
We are doing our best to create a welcoming atmosphere for all clubs and boxers and will continue to welcome league and ABC boxers and clubs across but (repeated for clarity) no boxer can box on our shows without being properly registered with Boxing Queensland and our Boxing Queensland boxers cannot box on any unsanctioned show (corporate, league, abc or sparring nights that charge an admission). These rules also apply to our coaches and our officials.
We are proud to be governed by the rules of Boxing Australia which values safety as a priority, this is reflected in the high standards and measures that we place within the rules to govern our sport. Click on the following: Boxing Australia Limited Regulations Regarding Prohibited Conduct
We are the peak body for boxing in Queensland and our boxers have the opportunity to represent their state and country, an opportunity not afforded to unaffiliated groups but we need to remind you that the International Body AIBA can place bans on our boxers competing internationally if they are found to have competed on unsanctioned shows/tournaments.
Boxing Australia
If a boxer registered on the Register of Boxers competes in any boxing competition in contravention of the Constitution or Regulations of Boxing Australia, the Committee may cancel the registration of such boxer on the Register of Boxers.
If an official registered on the Register of Boxing Officials officiates in any boxing competition in contravention of the Constitution or Regulations of Boxing Australia, the Committee may cancel the registration of such boxing official on the Register of Boxing Officials.
We are keen to see ourselves as one group once again with all boxers enjoying the same opportunities for competition and welcome any moves that bring us closer to this as our end goal. If you have any queries please feel free to contact us at any time.
Kind regards,
Boxing Queensland
